At 139 years old, Charleston Animal Society is the oldest animal organization in South Carolina and one of the oldest in the Nation. It is also South Carolina’s leader in adoptions, spay/neuter procedures, free roaming cat services and research projects and has a nationally recognized Veterinary Science Initiative. Charleston Animal Society was recently selected “Best Local Cause” in the Charleston City Paper’s readers’ poll and was named Nonprofit of the Year for 2012 at the annual “Giving Back Awards” gala sponsored by Charleston Magazine and the Coastal Community Foundation. Additionally, it earned Guidestar’s “Seal of Transparency” in recognition of its fiscal responsibility and is accredited by the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating.
Lake Tahoe Humane Society and S.P.C.A. has been serving the greater Lake Tahoe for over 46 years. We are a small nonprofit charitable organization that is entirely donor-supported. We are program based without a shelter operation. We offer spay/neuter vouchers, financial assistance for medical emergencies, pet disaster aid, and humane and environmental education programs. Founded in 1868, the SF SPCA is a community-supported nonprofit dedicated to saving, protecting and caring for cats and dogs. We do this through immediate care of animals that are homeless, ill or in need of an advocate, but we also work to educate the community, reduce the number of unwanted kittens and puppies through spaying/neutering, and improve the quality of life for animals and their companions. The Animal Rescue League Shelter and Wildlife Center is the only organization in the region that takes in and cares for both wild and domestic animals. If not for the Animal Rescue League Shelter’s open door policy of accepting all domestic animals, regardless of age, health or temperament, many of these precious animals would have nowhere to go. "Open Door" means that every animal finds shelter here, every day. The Animal Rescue League Wildlife Center is the largest wildlife center in the area. Animal Care Sanctuary's mission is to provide a safe and caring refuge for companion animals, inspire change through education, and support spay/neuter initiatives. Educating our community about homeless animals, solutions to pet overpopulation, compassionate and responsible pet care is an important part of our core mission at the Spartanburg Humane Society. We know that no one is ever too young or too old to learn or to explore their love for animals. Our Humane Education department offers opportunities for all ages. The Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County leads the community in animal welfare and assures sanctuary for animals in need. |
